Sellers may not list an item when its sale, possession, shipment, import, export, or intended use would violate applicable law or create unreasonable risk. The following categories are prohibited unless Volunteer Technology Systems expressly approves a compliant restricted program in writing.
Always prohibited
- Stolen property or property offered without authorization.
- Counterfeit goods, unauthorized replicas, or trademark-infringing items.
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, or substances marketed for unlawful use.
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, destructive devices, or instructions intended to facilitate violent wrongdoing.
- Human remains, body parts, or regulated biological material.
- Live animals, protected wildlife, illegal animal products, or items violating conservation law.
- Recalled, dangerously defective, or unlawfully modified consumer products.
- Hazardous materials that cannot lawfully be offered or shipped.
- Government identification, credentials, badges, licenses, or documents offered for deceptive use.
- Stolen accounts, credentials, personal information, malware, circumvention devices, or unlawful surveillance tools.
- Sexual content involving minors, non-consensual content, exploitation, or illegal obscene material.
- Hate-group material offered to promote violence or unlawful discrimination.
- Services involving fraud, academic cheating, unlawful access, evasion, or deception.
Hobby-specific restrictions
- Damaged lithium batteries may not be listed for shipping.
- Fuel, rocket motors, pressurized containers, chemicals, and pyrotechnic components require lawful handling and are not supported during Phase 1.
- Drones, transmitters, radio equipment, lasers, and aviation equipment must comply with applicable operational and spectrum rules.
- Modified safety equipment must disclose the modification and may be removed if it creates unreasonable risk.
- Items bearing removed, altered, or suspicious serial numbers are prohibited.
Enforcement
Volunteer Technology Systems may remove a listing, request proof of ownership or compliance, restrict an account, preserve relevant records, or refer suspected unlawful activity to appropriate authorities. A seller remains responsible for confirming that an item is lawful in the seller’s, buyer’s, and delivery jurisdictions.
